Birthday Girl

My younger sister Kiara turned 11 years old!
Holy Moly.

We went down to visit for the day and celebrated it with some friends in the neighborhood.
Having a handful of 8-10 year old girls is a little...exhausting? exciting? crazy? LOUD.
I'm the big sister in the family and watching my little sisters with their friends was very eye opening.
I guess it never occurred to me or never considered the fact that they might act differently with their friends than with their big sister.

Kiara is one of the sweetest girls I know.
I'm so proud to call her my sister.

Jeremy will be out of town for this week so my brother will be spending the week with me! There ain't no way I can stay here all by meself. Scary. This is my brother's first time in Memphis! Woo hoo! Jeremy and I also got a second ward calling: CUB SCOUT LEADERS! Literally, I'm surrounded by children 24/7. I work with children during the day, Wednesday nights and Sundays are also spent with children for my callings. Hmmmmmmmm. Goodness.

Happy first day of Fall! :)

smiling with sunflowers

When I was a little girl, around 8 or 9, I believed myself to be a good singer. After school I would sit by an open window and sing out loud. My hopes were that I would somehow make people smile as they walked by and heard my beautiful singing voice.

I told my husband this story the other day.

He thought I was trying to be a disney princess.

Although I would never do this today or even sing out loud to anybody not named Jeremy, I laugh at the simplicity of a little girl's mind. Trying to make people smile.

Adventures with the Red

A continuation of my previous post.
We visited the Memphis temple and contemplated whether it was bigger than the Birmingham temple.
Our conclusion?: Still up for discussion.

Red decked me out with my new jewelry and purse from Ecuador! Thanks Lizzy!

Jeremy and I finally have pictures with both of us in them! We hardly ever have a third person around, or rather, any other person, to take pictures of us.  It's always just us two taking selfies or Jeremy taking pictures of me.  But thankfully, this time we had our RED! All credit to her for our "couple" pictures.

I realize this isn't the MOST flattering picture but I wanted to show how we still have ESP. Liz and I always think the same. We both changed into our pjs and when we walked out we were twinning our tie dye shirts. Typical. We made these shirts together my sophomore year at BYU.

We also visited the Pink Palace Museum which is pretty popular here in Memphis.
It was probably the most random museum.

This is a replica of the very first PIGGLY WIGGLY!

Jeremy also got tickets to the Planetarium. And if you know me, I love going to nerdy things like the planetarium. We were so stoked about it only to discover that it was the WORST PLANETARIUM EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD. I mean, seriously? And the presentation was so boring. The guy was rambling and you couldn't understand a thing. I would rather have liked listening to my physical science teacher, Professor Moody. Anyways, we ended up walking out of there early with frustration.

The twinner and I are both running a half marathon in October and so on Saturday morning, in the heat of Memphis weather, we ran 4 miles! Hello, we were so proud! Can I just say that that week the temperature was in the 90s PLUS humidity. This was not fun. I know we look fabulous in all of our pictures but we were a sweatin' and HOTT!

Oh, and here is a little look at us in the museum forest.
