hot

// The only down side to wearing contacts is not being able to nap whenever I feel like it.  Once I start dazing into a nap, I have to get up, remove contacts, then proceed with said nap.  Unfortunately, naps don't always come at specifics time so I end up sleeping with them and then they start hurting my eyeballs.

// One of the most vulnerable moments in my life was when I was jumping into the shower, and looked down only to find a huge spider a foot away from me. My immediate response was to jump into the tub. Screaming for Jeremy to kill it. Ain't no way I'm walking next to that sucker! Something about being N-A-K-E-D with a spider next you just doesn't sit well with me.

//  Sadly my hydrangea plant fried up. No seriously, it looks like somebody took a fire to it.  Sometime last week I was hosting an event at my house and didn't want my hydrangea plant looking so cray and decided to trim off the fried parts.  Much to my surprise, new ones are starting to grow in! Hallelujah!!!

// Our AC is still broken and it's about 85 degrees up in here. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

// Jeremy leaves for Houston tomorrow :(

Arkansas

Just wanted to post some pictures of our weekend last month.  We got together with my family and had so much fun.  I miss seeing them but glad we live close to them.  We toured downtown and even went to the science museum per request of the engineer. I wasn't able to see Mom for Mother's Day so this weekend was our Mother's Day celebration with her.  She was definitely spoiled by us! Recently I was going through some of my old pictures and couldn't believe how fast my siblings are growing.  I'm blessed to see them grow through the years, and I'm lucky I get to be the big sis of the bunch! Love those kiddos with all my heart.

On the way home it was thundering and storming. I was driving and couldn't even see five feet in front of me.  The storms were so bad, and 45 minutes into our drive we stopped for an hour due to a semi truck swerving over.  Boredom ensued, pulled out my camera and used up the last of battery juice.  How often do you get the opportunity to take pictures on the interstate?

Weekenders

Well, folks, today I came to the realization that we are weekend people.  Meaning that the majority of our events fall on the days of Saturday-Sunday.  Things are pretty low key Monday-Friday (until 5:00 pm) and then it's time for us to party.  Most of my blog posts are on things that happen on weekends, but who really wants to know what we do during the week? Work. gym. cuddle. eat. Netflix. sleep. R-E-P-E-A-T. On this particular weekend we went to the farmer's market down the street from us. It hasn't picked up yet for the summer season so things were...well...I got some cute pictures out of it!

 {Swinging with this cutie!}

{Spying on this cutie! hahaha he didn't know I was taking pictures of him.}

Then my cutie husband surprised and took me on a date to see the Memphis Symphony Orchestra! They performed Beethoven's No. 9 and the conductor was amazing.  Why would I possibly be commenting on the conductor? This lady is entertaining and energetic. You can tell she is feeling that music.

{Featuring the best looking couple...that camera can't even handle us}

{Looking up at the sky}

Now, time to watch a sappy movie because that's what I'm in the mood for and not thinking about Monday.

Ruthie

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I HAD to post about my MIL! Ruthie is the sweetest with the biggest heart.  I'm blessed and lucky to call her mama. She was in town for Easter this year and we spent it by visiting Elvis' home. It seems to me that everyone is really getting into technology because the tour was self guided, and had John Stamos doing a voice over on the Ipad that guided you as you went through the house.  Elvis is one cool dude and I was fascinated by his home and his music.

You can't go to Memphis without getting a taste of BBQ.  Ruthie LOVED the ribs at Central BBQ and we even got a chance to talk to the owner about shipping her some to Maine :) They need something else up there other than lobster, right?

We had to hit up the paddle boats and Shelby Farms.  The day that we went, there were some pretty cool activities going on at the park.  They had booths set up of different organizations in the Memphis area and we were able to check out some exciting groups and what they are doing for our city.  I loved having Ruthie visit us, we showed her everything that is important to us.  We showed her our church building, took her to our favorite restaurants, and, really, just showed her everything about our life here.  We miss her so much and I think I might have gotten closer to convincing her to move here! Hehehehehehehe (or at least I hope I did). My dream is for us to buy houses (when we become millionaires or win the lottery, whichever comes first) for both of our moms on our street! I would just love that!

So, here's to you Ruthie, my only faithful blog follower, I love you and appreciate you in my life.  How did I get so lucky to not only get J, but also you as my family?

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

spring

Me: I think spring is my new favorite season.
J: Oh no, don't even say that. spring is MY favorite season. You are always talking about fall so you need to stick with that. Don't steal my season.

He's got a point. I'm possessive about fall, but there's something about spring I'm startin' to like.

As I watched conference this weekend, I was even more thankful for our life and our home.  I was reading on Yahoo News an article on our church and it made me even more appreciative of the truths that we have and our beliefs. Every day when I walk into our home I'm reminded of our Savior. When I was deciding on how to decorate our home I knew that I wanted "The Living Christ" and "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" framed and on display above our entry table.  We're still working on our house but this section is definitely finished! Disclaimer: our house is never as neat as it appears in photographs. Just saying.

easter

We are so lucky to have Mom Ruth in town for today! Our day started off with her famous french toast, sausage, bacon & fruit for breakfast. YUMMMY. We then watched General Conference and I loved every minute of it, of course. I didn't get to watch yesterday's sessions and I can't wait to do that this week. Then we looked/planned for our vegetable garden/flowers we are planting soon.  I'll admit, I'm quite nervous about it only because this will be our first time doing this.  And I'm tired of killing my plants!

Then Brit and I played EASTER BUNNIES and had an egg hunt for the girls.  We wrote down positive affirmations and put them inside of plastic eggs.  How cool is this? I mean, seriously, wouldn't you rather get positive notes than candy? I feel a new tradition coming on.  It was so much fun watching as they found the eggs we hid.  I will say that my favorite part was when they read their notes and seeing which ones they really liked.

Happy E a s t e r, everybody!!!

spring

This morning I woke up with the biggest smile on face. There must have been birds singing or something because if you know me, you know I HATE mornings and I HATE waking up. I don't think I have ever been more excited for warm weather like this before.  I dislike anything warm but due to the crazy winter that we have had, I'm so ready for some SUNSHINE! And then I walked outside and saw a bee and was quickly reminded of all the buggy things that come along with spring.  NOOOO.

Alright, so I have to talk about the best date ever. It started out with going on a run with my love (in the rain). Then we went to Paint A Piece and I finally got to paint a piggy bank.  After being on the look out for a grownup piggy bank (nothing Elsa, Hello Kitty, etc) for months and not finding one, I finally decided to paint my own gosh dangit! Then we went to watch Cinderella and I loooooooooooved it.  Omg...it was so good!  I have never been so excited to go to a movie theatre before! It took me back to when I was a little girl watching the cartoon version of it. We ended our day by trying out a new Japanese restaurant.  One of our goals is to try to branch out and try out new places to eat.

Hope everybody is enjoying this beautiful weather!
